Ok, Ed Lopez back here.  I had the very same experience whith  the 
rewind button on the ptr1.  The rubber buttons on the unit seems to 
be the week point on certain units   When I had the problem whith the 
rewind button, which is the same problem that you  are having whith 
the record button,  I called irti, and they told me to send it in. 
They couldn't find the problem,  and they  went as far as to take the 
hole unit apart, and they couldn't find what was wrong with the 
rewind key, so they went  ahead and sent me a new unit. So, if you 
got your unit from IRTi,  I would go ahead and call them, and tell 
them what you are experienceing.
