Tink,

You can use the PRS software "Audio Import" feature to get a very basic
DAISY version of your MP3 file. It would be basic because the only DAISY
navigation feature that would be available immediately would be the phrase
navigation.

However, in order to get the full benefits of the DAISY navigation, you
would then need to manually insert the headings and set them to the correct
levels e.g. Level 1, Level 2 etc. The type of recording and how much you
want to break it up into navigable chunks, would dictate the amount of work
that this stage would involve.

In the ideal world, you would also then want to go through all the headings
and change their default name from "Heading" to something more meaningful
such as "Lecture 1" or whatever is relevant for your recordings.

Hope this helps,

Jamie

Subject: Converting to DAISY Format.

Hi,

As a relatively new PTR1 owner, I'm a bit puzzled.

Is it possible to apply the DAISY format to existing recordings? I have
some lectures in plain .mp3 format, which I'd like to DAISY. I'd thought I
could do this, but I can't find anything that immediately seems to tell me
how.

    Thanks for any help.

Cheers,
Tink.
