Well, I think if they're free upgrades then distributors should consider
their market and send out in a form which *most* can manage easily.  It
has also proved good practice from Freedom Scientific to send out CD's
to those entitled to updates which, although they may have arrived after
people have downloaded, have at least been made available.

Anyway, everyone knows where my thoughts are on this now so I'll back
down and say no more!

Issuing updates in this manner is quite common for CD devices such as
this one.  Some devices like some MP3 CD players expect a file to be in
the root, but in this case there needs to be multiple files to guide the
users through the upgrade process.  Maybe it should be the distributor's
responsibility to create update disks if requested (possibly at a
handling fee)?  I wonder how many distributors would currently do this
if asked?

Alternatively, I wonder if there is any way of pushing the image out via
a CD via an EXE file that does the image extraction itself?
