Hildesheim, Germany - Pengutronix has released a board support package for
Phytec's phyCORE-i.MX27 ARM v5 based CPU module.
Its to be used in conjunction with our PTXdist userland build system version
1.0.2. PTXdist is one of the major technology components of Pengutronix's
professional Open Source Embedded Linux Automation Services (OSELAS -
http://www.oselas.com).
Note: This is a pre-release only. The impact into the system to bring in audio
support is very deep. Also the kernel support for this architecture is still
a floating target.
Currently open issues:
- Line In to Line Out bypass gives strange sound effects. The singing
voice is suppressed
- on quit sounds you can hear the CPU working. At least when it outputs
chars on the UART console
- under higher system load decoding an MP3 song can stutter
- some WAV files are played ways to fast
- MXC ALSA audio driver needs more cleanup when its more tested
So please test this BSP and its audio capabilities and report failures or
strange behavior on this maillist.
The OSELAS.BSP-Phytec-phyCORE-i.MX27-6-pre1 should be a feature expansion
release due to added audio support.

* Framebuffer support (preliminary)

* Camara support through Video for Linux (v4l)
* Audio for playback and capturing
