Just adding a brief comment to the valuable previous comment #13 that Tanu
made, in my case the "only" available speakers on my system are within the
monitor, so falling back to analog means that gives no sound at all until the
profile is switched back to HDMI. So current behaviour certainly breaks my
sound support, and means that every single time I want to have sound after not
using the machine for a matter of ten minutes or so I then have to go into the
settings and switch profile again. That is not user friendly.  It will be nice
to see an agreed solution for a good way forward, and I am thankful for the
work being done on developing and fixing bugs in the pulseaudio packages.
