Issue #2827 has been updated by Jesse Wolfe. File 0001-Feature-2827-Option-to-disable-managing-internal-fil.patch added Status changed from Accepted to Ready for Testing Branch set to ticket/0.25.x/2827
Add a flag "manage_internal_file_permissions" which is enabled by default. Disabling this flag prevents Puppet from managing the owner, group, or mode of files created from Puppet::Util::Settings::FileSetting I think this is a wide enough net to follow Luke's suggestion of "disable management of everything", and it certainly satisfies the requests I'm aware of, but if I've missed anything, let me know. ---------------------------------------- Feature #2827: Provide an option to disable Puppet managing its config/var files http://projects.reductivelabs.com/issues/2827 Author: Dan Bode Status: Ready for Testing Priority: Normal Assigned to: Jesse Wolfe Category: file Target version: Affected version: 0.25.1 Keywords: Branch: ticket/0.25.x/2827 It is conceivable that a user might not want puppetd to manage ownership for its internal files (ie: /var/lib/puppet) There could be a param [puppetd] vardirperm=false (or any other better name) that indicates that puppet should not manage ownership for any of its internal files. -- You have received this notification because you have either subscribed to it, or are involved in it.
