Henrik Lindberg & R.I.Pienaar - what you are saying about the .conf extension not making sense for data files does resonate with me... that was part of the reason why we used .hocon for the original PR. Kylo Ginsberg does this sway your opinion at all? Henrik Lindberg - agreed, will create a separate ticket re: the main hiera.yaml config file.
