Has the -no-daemonize option been changed?  See below:

bash-3.2# puppet master -v -d -no-daemonize

ambiguous option: -no-daemonize

Try 'puppet master --help'

bash-3.2# puppet master --help

grep: /Library/Ruby/Site/1.8/puppet/util/command_line/*: No such file or
> directory

No help available for puppet master
