You will have to edit the list shelf template using the SwikiBrowser.
Alternatively, you could use the AdminTool to make all Swikis not
visible. Look in setup for each.

Have you set e-mail alert sender and server in the refs settings (again,
using the AdminTool)? If these are not set, e-mails will not deliver.
