I did analyze the audio files I am using with Audacity (I actually made them with that program), and I found any delay in them acceptable and do not account for the differences I am having. As I said, the sound does just fine with my old laptop (once I fixed my idiotic pre_init call) and has no appreciable delay. As the versions of python and pygame are identical between the machines, and using 32-bit all around, I can only think that this is a hardware issue. Perhaps I need to find updated drivers? My motherboard is only a few years old...
I will certainly look into further editing my sounds, and I appreciate the input! What you say about how SDL manages the sounds is interesting. I also wonder about how SDL interacts with the underlying hardware. -- View this message in context: http://pygame-users.25799.n6.nabble.com/Pygame-sound-delay-problem-tp405p409.html Sent from the pygame-users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
