I'm currently trying to port AVbin in a full Python version, wrapping FFmpeg with ctypes. I already have 700+ lines of code. I'm more aiming at a proof of concept first. I haven't coded enough to have anything substantial to be seen. But I can already read the type of media, how many streams it has, and what kind of decoder is needed to play the stream. I hope by the end of the week I will have something working on my machine. At the moment, it's a bit of a mess. Wrapping C code is very error-prone. I'll keep you posted.
