I can see this benefiting a lot of people, especially for those looking for 
performance increases.

Rabbyt is written in Cython and gets large performance increases, most 
times greater than Pyglet in transformations (thousands of sprites lerping 
colors, scaling, and positions at hundreds of FPS) and rendering, and it is 
using the old fixed function OpenGL. So I can imagine the performance 
increase would be noticeable on Pyglet.
