If software packaging was automagical, there would be no reason to have distributions… In the specific case of the PySide stack, packaging was complicated to set up correctly because the 5 elements have to be uploaded in chain, because the Debian policy requires to build shiboken and pyside for each available python version (which needs patches), because ABI breaks still happen from time to time (the mere reason of this thread), because I impose myself the burden of tracking ABI symbols, because compiling PySide takes up to 7 hours on my building machine and because I try my best to not upload broken packages on the official PPA (I always test-build on my personal PPA before uploading). And in the specific ~beta3 case, it also took some time because I tried to lower the burden of backporting by splitting the symbols wrt ditributions and g++ versions. This will make the next versions faster too. But at each version, upstream makes changes (which is normal) which have to be handled at the packaging level. And finally, believe me, if it was automatable, I would have done it already.
