Terry J. Reedy <tjre...@udel.edu> added the comment: Hirokazu's original patch was to restore sys.modules after *every* test, not just sys.modules. That *did* cause problems because (at minimum) of references in importlib. Restoring only after __all__ would only let test_tcl run but not test_tk. And that is assuming alphabetic, not randomized order.
