R. David Murray added the comment: Please note that Paul is pretty new to the core team, and is a crossover with the packaging folks (which is mainly where the mingw issues lie). What this means to the mingw community is that with Paul on the core team and willing to work on the support, the mingw users have the best chance they've ever had of making progress on this.
