Terry J. Reedy added the comment: Without being able to make my homedir read-only, I don't, of course, see the messages. Since run does not use idleConf (I am now sure), you should have been able to proceed after clicking away the admittedly obnoxious repeat messages. The old extraneous user-process temporary should disappear when you restart. Can you check that?
