Wait, I just checked and the call is done manually:

ctypedescr_dealloc(CTypeDescrObject *ct)
{
PyObject_GC_UnTrack(ct);
if (ct->ct_weakreflist != NULL)
PyObject_ClearWeakRefs((PyObject *) ct);
I am not sure call to PyObject_ClearWeakRefs from tp_dealloc is safe.
