Reminds me of a fact: modern personal computers don't really have an off switch. They have menu items and keys that take several hundred milliseconds to react. Seems to me that that is most likely because a lot of folks weren't as lucky with at least one of the times they shutdown in the middle of a save. And then what was that fysnc-on-close thread about? Again, I'm not against the Ctrl-L feature or some clear function (I'm -0.5 on a builtin, but if the module maintainers for sys or os are willing, I'm perfectly happy to ignore it), but some care should be taken that it (1) not clear scrollback or history unless explicitly requested, and (2) not be easy to inadvertantly invoke. I don't think (2) is at all difficult, but it should be checked before distribution.
