That doesn't represent the whole truth. The Usenet group is unmoderated but is gatewayed to a mailing list, which of course can be moderated. So while you can't be moderated on the Usenet group, much of the potential audience for posts here are actually reading via the list, and hence won't see your posts if they are moderated out.
