Certainly web developers work in many different languages. A lot of my websites are a mix of HTML, XML, CSS, Javascript, SQL, PHP, Python, Bash shell scripts, and various other odds and ends such as Prolog or LISP which make specific jobs easier. Trying to do everything with one programming language is like trying to build a house with only a screwdriver.
