Well, it's the Python installer that's doing the installing; I assume it's doing it correctly. Now, if your Cygwin is a > 32-bit app, it could be getting fooled as well. So, if I "cd" to "/c/Windows/System32", and do "ls -l python27.dll", it's really looking at "/c/Windows/SysWOW64" instead? That's why I see it with msys's "ls" and "file", but not with cmd.exe and "dir", or depends.exe? > I suggest you start up a command shell and see where the file really > lives.
