I've been looking for a good IDE since 2002. For couple years I've been using TextMate, then moved to Eclipse+PyDev on a bigger project. I always recommended WingIDE to people learning Python, but the best version is the pro because of it's deep integration with Python (inspector/debugger). In the end last year I've moved to PyCharm just before it hit version 1.0 and I'm not looking back. Strongly suggest PyCharm to anyone on any platform. It's fast, lightweight, great support/integration with Python (Django too since last version).

I've been using a lot Eclipse + PyDev (free) and I think it's a great IDE. And works perfectly on Mac.
