Hi Aaron, > Just wondering what people are currently using to download tracks from > their garmin devices.
After four and a half years, my 305 died (it has been discontinued by Garmin as far as I am aware) and now I am using a 210 which stores data in FIT format > I have a garmin 305, and I used to use garmintools but the most recent > version I could find for my F18 machine was > garmintools-0.10-4.fc14.x86_64 and it doesn't seem to be working (still > trying to track down the problem). The closest version of gpsbabel I > could find is gpsbabel-1.3.5-beta20080121.i386 but pytrainer requires an > exact match, I could try rebuilding and installing the package myself > but it seems a bit of a hassle. I have to admit a love–hate relationship with GPSBabel. I have made several tests with different versions and formats and results are strange most of the times. As an example, it seems that GPSBabel 1.4.4 (last version) does not support laps when importing from FIT files and because of that I decided to integrate some perl scripts to do the job (see http://www.mail-archive.com/pytrainer-devel@lists.sourceforge.net/msg00519.html) > In either case it's the choice of a project that looks to have been dead > since 2009, or an obsolete version of another project. So how are people > getting the tracks from their forerunners into pytrainer? I am also running F18, but no longer using garmintools. Did you try to run commands directly from console as Arnd suggests?. Maybe the issue is related to permissions accessing usb port.
