Hi Aaron,

After four and a half years, my 305 died (it has been discontinued by
Garmin as far as I am aware) and now I am using a 210 which stores
data in FIT format

I have to admit a love–hate relationship with GPSBabel. I have made
several tests with different versions and formats and results are
strange most of the times. As an example, it seems that GPSBabel 1.4.4
(last version) does not support laps when importing from FIT files and
because of that I decided to integrate some perl scripts to do the job
(see

I am also running F18, but no longer using garmintools. Did you try to
run commands directly from console as Arnd suggests?. Maybe the issue
is related to permissions accessing usb port.

Best regards,

David
