Hi,
Thank you to Mayeul and Giovanni.
I succeed in implementing the following extension formats in eVis Events Browser of QGis 1.6.0.
Here are below different extensions and how you have to configure external application from which hypermedia file will be opened either in the hypermedia eVis display window or using external application configured for it :
mdb : C:/Program Files/Microsoft Office/OFFICE11/MSACCESS.EXE
jpg : C:/Program Files/PhotoFiltre/PhotoFiltre.exe
tif : C:/Program Files/PhotoFiltre/PhotoFiltre.exe
doc : C:/Program Files/OpenOffice.org 3/program/swriter.exe
pdf : C:/Program Files/Mozilla Firefox/firefox.exe
mp3 : C:/Program Files/VideoLAN/VLC/vlc.exe
kml : C:/Program Files/Google/Google Earth/client/googleearth.exe
etc...
For image formats such as jpg and tif, files may appear in the eVis display window. In this case, you don't have to configure external application.
But if you want to make such image format files be opened in an external application, you have to configure it as I did above using Photofiltre which is a freeware imagery software. In eVis display Windows, you just have to click (or double-click) on the filename and it will be opened using the external application which is linked with.
For pdf format, I choose to use Firefox Acrobat Reader plugin because I used a file with its URL in the database.
If you want to use a local pdf file, it works perfectly if you put the right path of the pdf file in the database.
In my case, pdf document is opened (or registered) locally using Acrobat Reader because I configure it as external application linked to pdf format.
Hope my explanations are enough clear and that iit will be useful for either people with same needs.

En réponse à Mayeul Kauffmann <[email protected]> :Hi,
For acrobat reader (and in fact many media) you could use a url to have
it open in e.g. firefox. Then the user can define in firefox preferences
if it should be displayed in firefox or with external application. THis
is cross-platform and does not rely on knowing the path of the
application.
In Acrobat reader, you can even define which page of the pdf should be
opened.
Hope this helps.
(feedback on implementing this will be highly appreciated!)
