It wouldn't fix the problem of our community being spread over many places,
but at least I'd hope that it would be easier to find answers to previously
asked questions.
On the other hand, I'm uncertain how many users would be too shy to use
stackexchange but fine to use a QGIS Q&A. Judging from my experience on
stackexchange, there are a lot of beginners questions coming in all the
time.
The phrase in FAQ about "welcoming people who use GIS professionally" has
also been changed to remove "professionally". It wasn't meant to be
interpreted in a way to discourage people who are new to GIS.
