David, thanks for your suggestion, but if it's a plugin, it should show up in every project (file). It only is in one .qgs file, though it seems to be related to that file.

I noticed a red cross after I installed zoom to coordinates plugin and the only way to get rid of it was to uninstall the plugin but I ignore it because the plugin is so useful!
