Hi,

I got me a new IBM 40 GB hard disk.
I tried atari-fdisk, and it told me that there is a gap of roughly 7 GB that cannot be
used for partitions!?
In detail:
1..14418140
gap
28967336..80418239

I tried several things until I went to expert mode and deletet bad sector list.
Then everything was OK.
Now my question:
Is it OK to delete it? What is / was it good for?
How come that a new hard disk (never used before) has it?
Who is needing a bad sector list? Linux?

Thanks,

Claus
