Did you ever get to the bottom of why some simms do not work on the
Q40/60? You remember that batch of 40 I had?
Stuart Honeyball had a similar problem with Altera EP1810.
Everything was fine up to '96 build level. Altera changed nothing as far
as the spec was concerned. Their reply to Stuart was 'Oh yes, we have
changed the internal timings but it should not affect the external
interface' ... but it did of course, and made those chips unusable with
Super Gold Card - at least without a rethink, which never happened.
