It's actually a big step in the right direction. The system is much more secure by default than previously. Most of the problems are due to old software using ports which are now locked down by default.

The list of applications which SP "breaks" includes many which are trivial to get working again, and even include some which are not broken by it! (eg Zone Alarm; its on the list, but according to Zone Labs, it is compatible). One problem is that msoft advise that you MUST remove all spyware before installing it. Most users wouldn't know what spyware they have, never mind how to get rid of it!

My advice for anyone thinking of upgrading is to do a clean install - it is possible to install XP and SP2 in one go. Having said that I ignored my own advice on one machine, but it had hardly ever been connected to the internet.

Did anyone tried to use Qpc (last version 3.20) in a WinXP SP2 machine ? There is a general instability, without any reason QPC close itself randomly, also, i had to cancel some extension in the boot file cause they crash QPC. This happended after the SP2 installation.

Ciao

Fabrizio

I believe you are looking for an MFM/RLL drive. These do occasionally come up on eBay.
