Brian,

I wasn't being sarcastic at all, nor "elitist". I thought the last DP
released version was generally available as PD - I hadn't looked for it, as
I was one of those who bought the entire DP collection of programs from
freddy for about 100 quid just prior to DP closing down - so I already had
it and every other DP program.

I don't regard the perfection issue as a lost cause at all - Malcolm Cadman
has said he will talk to Dave Gilham about it at a soon forthcoming London
meeting, so if I get an OK from Dave, then the version I have can be
released IMMEDIATELY.

I'm sure Roy can comment on the other gripe, but I am certain he did
everything in his power to report your findings to the author concerned,
and also to get a reply. This is par for the course though these days -
decent authors and programmers are leaving the QL scene, and there is not a
lot the traders can do about it - I know the feeling. Mark Knight is a
prime example.

Cheers,

Darren Branagh,

Im not quite sure if that was a sarcastic aside?? I thought it was a
genuine
observation. It seems to me that the "QL WORLD" is getting too elitist and
forgetting the bottom of the heap, you know, the ordinary users. No wonder
QL users are leaving in a steady trickle for Mr Gates world when our
experts
act too aloof. Point in mind, apart from Perfection, which I now believe is

a lost cause - I purchased (yes, purchased) an update from Qbranch of
Datadesign for the high colour drivers. It don't work past the first filter

level. Report it to Roy Wood, who duly said he would report the findings to

the author/updater .... To date, no reply, no nothing. I am now a few quid
out of pocket with something worse than the thing it was perported to
update! Roy says he has had no feedback from whoever supposedly updated the

code. Why?. I have been with my QL, Aurora and ultimately my Q40 since
1985.
It is beginning to feel like its time to move on and leave Qdos/Smsq/e to
all of you elitists
