The ultimate authority on this would be SMSQ/E Registrar, Wolfgang Lenerz
http://www.wlenerz.com/smsqe/

Just a stab in the dark - since the QL can't support more than 8 colours, this might be for emulators, perhaps?

Looking at the code, all seem to have the same version number, implying it's not a case of an out of date version remaining in the package, for example.

Subject: [Ql-Users] smsqeXXX_binaries

In smsqeXXX_binaries.zip file for which systems are the following
binaries?

"Aurora.bin"
I suppose it's for Aurora + CG or SGC System

"GoldCard.bin"
I think for a QL motherboard system + CG or SGC

But:

"GoldCard_256colours.bin"
For what QL system? 256 colours without
Aurora? Is it possible?

On my QL Aurora + SGC I use "Aurora.bin" and
it is the only of that three that works, both in mode 4 in
high-resolution, than with 8 bit color 512x384.

Thanks.
