The short answers are
1) YES
2) NO.
I have QPC2 for comparison and it seems (no formal benchmarking) much
quicker so I can leave HiColour on for Quill,Archive,Emacs,Abacus,MView
etc. without the clear loss of performance on my QXL in the same PC host.
My QXL has 8MB on board, the host is a 400Celeron with a Matrox Millenium
G200 - 8MB. I can sit and watch the screen being redrawn should I have
nothing better to do.
Still, QXL doesn't make the fuss over floppies that W98/QPC2 does!
