Why did no-one (until RomDisq) use 'gold' plated contacts.
The worst offender was the Miracle Hard disk.  For the sake of 30p, he
compromised data quite badly.  I have one, and as the lead is on the end
of a ribbon cable, the contacts move often, onto oxidised solder.  Mine
seems to need cleaning every few months - a hard rubber is fine,
although a fibreglass pen is the pro way to do it.
