You'll find that in the end every potential window manager will depend
on the PE.

It's not so much asm vs. C but vector fonts vs. simple fixed fonts.
Anyway, if I'd ever do another window manager the last language I'd
choose is asm.

Can't think of any reason why in the end it should be faster than
ProWesS. Our machines are not fast. Not even a Q60 is fast compared to
today's computer speeds. Most current GUIs you know demand too much
power for any QL compatible platform.
