I am not.  All that html is added erroneously by Eudora.
What I sent out was:
<URL:urldetail>
and that is all.

Interestingly, even with the above mashed Eudora version, Turnpike still
correctly linked just the URL (8-)#

No - all Turnpike shows is exactly what I sent.
In fact the section you quoted was exactly what I sent:

Eudora is hiding the real text from you it seems.
