I've been playing with QlandkarteGT a bit, and it looks like one of the better map apps I've seen, and it works very nicely with my GPS receiver, but I'm having trouble with storing maps for offline use.
I have a Nokia N810 using Maemo Mapper, and it is quite happy to store any maps I get from OpenStreetMaps in its database for use on the road, but it appears that it's not so simple from QLGT. Is there a relatively easy way to save map data for offline use, preferably from OSM? Or is there a way to use the maps saved by Maemo Mapper? I've tried going through the procedures in the help documentation, but I'm clearly missing something important as I don't get anything visible. It appears that I can only capture small sections of map at a given resolution and then have to save them as images and add location data to each? And then for another resolution do the same? Not sure if I understand the basics of the procedure, let alone the details... :-( Sorry for being dense, I seem to need a push in the right direction. Oh, this info is probably needed: QLGT 1.4.0 QT library 4.7.2 GDAL 1.8.0 released 2012/1/12 Proj4 library 470 Running on Linux Mint 11 (Katya). Thanks for any help you might be able to provide... -Alan ____________________________________________________________ Fast, Secure, NetZero 4G Mobile Broadband.
