Well if you think it's a bug you can provide a patch if you know a better way
to probe for devices.

This mounting and unmounting of devices is one of the atrocities in Linux that
reaches way back to the old server mainframes. If Linux should become more
appealing to normal users this is one of the things that has to go.

Having the device plug-n-play in QMapShack was one of the stronger user wishes
from the QLandkarte era. Always with the nice hint that Basecamp does it that
way. Personally I agree and I appreciate it quite a lot that I do not have to
think about mounting or unmounting anything when I copy data. I plug it in, I
see the data. I send my projects to the devices and simply unplug them. That
simple.

Of course it would be nicer to have a better way to identify the Garmin and
TwoNav devices than to inspect their file system. But to my knowledge UDisks2
does not provide the USB device ID. Nor any other interface that can be found
on all Linux derivatives. But I do not know everything. If you know better go
ahead.

But as long as there is no better reliable solution this won't change.
