Delay when receiving mail

Hi all,

I am having a hassle when sending mail to my qmail-ldap mailserver.
Sniffing the wire shows that incoming mail is received almost
immediately after it was sent, but there is a delay between the time the
message arrives successfully over the wire via SMTP, and the time the
message becomes visible in the inbox of the mail account.

Is there a way of getting rid of this delay so that incoming mail is
delivered immediately?
