ldap patch with qmail

Hi,
Im one of the ISP email administrator. We are considering openLDAP with 
qmail running on solaris 8. I would like to know how stable it is. What 
is the maximum number of users have anybody implemented and do you have 
any references to prove that it is working with a huge number of users.
