My particular server will be a mail server, not a home directory server. The 
user login process will be entirely through the ldap lookup, and not through 
/etc/passwd.

I do appreciate everyone pointing out options to <user>@<domain>.

My bigger problem is the "Is a directory" error from ldapmodify. Any 
suggestions about that?
