AFAIK SqWebMail doesn't use cookies or javascript. Why should a file
system layer require synchronized clocks and make me worry about locking?
There's a myriad of NFS related problems. I don't like how NFS was designed,
and how it's implemented, anywhere. I won't use it unless I have to.
Just the number of problems Sun (people responsible for this) themselves had
with NFS should ring the bell. Furthermore NFS is a file-sharing
solution, not storage sharing solution. Mail or web clusters are better
off with storage sharing. Better performance and redundancy. All your
servers in a cluster are connected to a redundant storage array with a
wire instead of a network. You eliminate the network layer, the TCP/IP
layer, along with complexity and bottlenecks. I am sure an array the
size of NetApp won't cost you much more than a NetApp, considering they
charge an arm and a leg for it. The problem lies with the lack of
clustering file systems software. It should be available from big *nix
vendors like HP and IBM and Sun, but GFS is all I know about as far as
open source stuff goes.
