Qmail (and qmail-ldap) both work using tcpserver. Now tcpserver can check rbl lists, so this is a a very good beginning for spam filtering. Also qmail-ldap has the possibility to deny mails for which the sender address does not resolve, again spam filtering. Also the max number of mails (rcpt-to's) can be limited, and using scripts on the logfiles, also the max number of mails sent in a specific period of time can be limited.
