This one is already much better, although you should leave the option of whether or not to use a symlink: I don't know if it works when you have 100.000 symlinks to one file (dunno if that's a system limit). But it reminded me of the fact that I already wrote one without symlinks, maybe it's time to blow the dust of it and see how I can get it to work again :)
