Hi,
I wrote the LDAP related portion of Life with Qmail-LDAP. I chose
to discuss OpenLDAP because it is freely available for everyone to
use. If there were more free LDAP packages available, then I would
extend the documentation to include them. I don't know if Felix's
tinyldap is mature enough yet to handle supporting large mail
servers. I plan to test it sometime soon. I do not feel that Life
with Qmail-LDAP is the place to discuss integration with commercial
software packages.

However, I have mostly used iPlanet because it is far more
reliable and feature rich (IMHO). If you require detailed help with
iPlanet/Sun One Directory Server then contact me personally and I
will be glad to give you all the friendly support you need for a
fee. This can be anything from Qmail-LDAP integration up to full
scale planning and design, and implementation of global directories
replicating in real time over SSL.

Alternatively, someone on the mailing lists may be willing to give
you a hint here or there for free (myself included). Below is my
hint to you.

I highly recommend the following book:

Understanding and Deploying LDAP Directory Services
