As the above stuff was written there was no auth_pop tool. It was added
shortly afterwards as the imap support was added. auth_pop has NS-MTA-MD5
capabilities.

AFAIK a few users have migrated from post.office but this is some time
ago. Perhaps have a look at the mailing list archive 
(see 'tail -22 QLDAPINSTALL' or http://www.lifewithqmail.org/ldap for more info)
