Just wanted to run by everyone our current set-up to 1) get thoughts and 2)
see how others are running it

We have about 50 servers at the moment all running their own mail server
(Sendmail) this is highly customised to allow for various mail options per
server

We have one mail server running qmail aand we use this as a backup MX
server, it works flawlessly. We have some users who wanted a setup for their
DSL line and qmail fitted the bill nicely. Its not patched in any way ans
just uses rcpthosts for the main domains.

Now we have installed another server again running qmail and patched with
the qmailqueue-patch. We have qmail-scanner installed without any major mods
and we are using f-prot. We only have it set to e-mail admin atm.

In the DNS records we set the backup as the backup and the main virus
machine as the primary, we then use smtproutes file to redirect the mail to
the intended server

This means we dont have to have virus scanning on all servers and its easy
to maintain.

We plan on building in some basic stats so we can mail users once a month
saying we have stopped x# of virus's this month etc...

Does this seem like a good way to go live *Have been running it like this
for about 10 domains with no problems so far

Thanks

Darren
PS would like to hear how others are runnign things
