Thank you much for you reply.
Yes i did try it without the softlimit at all, and it made no difference.
and no those directories are not there to try those commands.. yet the log does not appear to list removing them like it does when you run the test.
below is what my log gets

Not to beat a dead horse, but have you tried running it without a softlimit
in place?
Just simply take it out of there and let it use whatever resources it can
muster.
Also, when qs fails, at least previous behavior, I'm not sure what it has
now (I'm a
few versions behind), whenever it would fail, it would leave the scanning
directory
behind. If so, try manually scanning the directory just as qs would. IE:
# cd /var/spool/qmailscan/stephenson.cc104193112842427504
# /usr/local/trend/ISBASE/IScan.BASE/vscan -p/etc/iscan/ -za -a -u -nl -v \
/var/spool/qmailscan/stephenson.cc104193112842427504
If it fails that way, then you know its not qs thats at fault.
If it works that way, then immediately afterwards, type:
# echo $?
That will give you the last executed command's return code. If vscan is
working
properly, scans properly, but returns a code other than 0, then its a whole
new
ballgame.

Subject: [Qmail-scanner-general]Re: scanner/resource problems

I wonder if anyone bothers to read the entire email before they reply,
because if they did they would have seen that I had set different
softlimits
of varying degrees (because yes I did read the FAQ and browse the mailing
lists). Why do people respond to messages without reading the message all
the way through?
Once again.. I am still looking for a valid response from someone who has
read my email all the way through, realizes that I did read the FAQ, and
searched the mailing list, tried the softlimit settings.. yet here I am
with
a qmail-scanner that passes the built in test, but fails upon
implementation.
Any help (from someone willing to actually read my email all the way
through) would be greatly appreciated.
