That is why people should add Mail-Followup-To headers when posting to lists.
That way the responder doesn't need to worry about whether the author
was on the list or not, that header will indicate where group replies
should go.

This feature can even be used to redirect stuff to a smaller subset of lists
or to an alternate list. Or it could be used to redirect replies to just
the author so that he can summarize them.

A reply-to header set by the list server can't do any of that and will break
things if the author had a reply-to header of his own that was removed.
