Qmail smtp problem

Hello,   I run qmail-smtpd with tcpserver in a daemon build by qmail-run.rpm package.   But I have a problem because when I try to connect with telnet like this: "telnet localhost 25"   a first mensage like this appears:   Connected to 127.0.0.1 Escape character is '^]'.   and the second message is:   220 localhost.localdomain ESMTP   but there are a gap between the first and the second message of 3, 4 minutes, and my mail client always timeout.   I don't understand this because I run qmail-pop3d in the same mode (tcpserver daemon build by qmail-run), and the gap between the first and the second message is null.   How can I solve this problem?   Tia, Jorge Mota Sociedade Torreense de Informática, Lda.
