If you're using PAM-enabled IMAP daemon, you may try my
PAM-based solution (basically get pam_exec module from 
www.qmail.org and call a IP-storing script through it from both 
/etc/pam.d/pop3 and /etc/pam.d/imap). For some specific IMAP 
daemons, I believe there are patches for smtp-after-imap available 
somewhere.
